Wale On The Come Up

Washington, D.C. rapper Wale announced his affiliation with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label in a live performance video clip that recently surfaced on the net- leaving many fans confused as to the XXL freshman’s allegiance. XXLMag.com spoke to Wale’s manager, Daniel Weisman, to explain the deal.

According to Wesiman, Wale is still signed to Mark Ronson’s imprint Allido on Interscope Records but now, along with his company Elitate, he will also be co-managed by Roc Nation.

“[It] just sort of happened organically,” Weisman said of the new partnership. “Wale went on tour with Jay-Z last summer and got to know the Roc Nation people – [he] went on tour with Mark Ronson, who was opening for Jay-Z in the U.K. Got to know [Jay] and it just seemed like a good move for him to do that.”

Jay has several names attached to his Roc Nation imprint, a reported $150 million deal he brokered with Live Nation last year. He has signed up-and-coming North Carolina MC J. Cole, and is in talks with former Roc-A-Fella rapper Young Chris and XXL freshman alumnus Mickey Factz. HitsDailyDouble.com reports that Roc Nation has already signed up a sizable roster of emerging producers and songwriters as well.

As for Wale, Weisman says that his debut is done and is expected to hit stores this summer. The album will also feature cameos from Lady Gaga - who is on his lead single “Chillin” - Bun B, Marsha Ambrosius, K’Naan and Melanie Fiona. It will include production by Mark Ronson, Cool & Dre, and DJ Green Lantern, among others. – Elan Mancini

Today went by tooo quick; first period was a sleep in hour for me even though it was 2 hrs long. 6th period was 4 hrs long today but we were loafing alllll day, why you ask?? all I can say is "GYM" does that help?? So basically I got suspended for 2 days plus my weekend :-). More music getting done. As of right now a break is needed. Other than that my grades are looking O.D. good so it's not really bothering me, but I can't wait to go back to school to tell my nigga De'von how my Celtics was balling last night, OOOO YEAAA I'm a celtic's fan bitch. Besides that me and Hellboi did a session today knocked out 4 songs in less than 3 hours, for you people that record and perfect all your shit know what I'm talking about. 3 songs usually will take atleast 5 hrs if you writing,recording,editing,perfecting, and etc. I knocked out only one song today and I plan on knocking out 2 more, so in a couple of minutes my break will be over. 11 songs done with the O.D. mixtape and 3 that just need the other verses done, so I'ma about to make 13.
